The opening of an Azerbaijani school in Istanbul, Türkiye, has been postponed until next year,Parviz Mammadzade, head of the Federation of Turkish-Azerbaijani Associations (TADEF) told APA's Türkiye bureau.
He said the decision was made due to earthquake reinforcement work being carried out in the building allocated for the school.
"The process is currently ongoing. The school is planned to begin operating next year. Work is being carried out to make the building earthquake-resistant," Parviz Mammadzade noted.
Note that the decision to establish an Azerbaijani school in Istanbul was formalized in an Additional Protocol signed between Azerbaijan and Türkiye on September 23, 2025. The protocol was ratified by Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis on December 23, 2025.
