Official Yerevan does not rule out the possibility of US company oversight of the Zangezur corridor

Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Mnatsakan Safaryan, has commented on the option of transferring the functions of unblocking regional communications to international organizations, APA reports.

The deputy minister told Radio Liberty's Armenian service that if this option fully complies with the principles declared by Armenia, it can be implemented.

The deputy minister also clarified the issue of another organization being able to control the route. According to him, the word “control” is a wrong expression here.

“I repeat once again: This process must be carried out within the framework of Armenia’s sovereignty, jurisdiction, and territorial integrity. If it complies with these principles, then yes, it can be implemented. This is a matter for discussion, mutuality must be ensured,” Mnatsakan Safaryan said in response to a question from Radio Liberty's Armenian service about whether this option is acceptable for Armenia and whether a third-party company could control this route if the parties agree on the principle of mutuality.

Note that reports have emerged about a US company potentially overseeing the Zangezur corridor.
