New ICDO Secretary-General Arguj Kalantarli meets with Swiss Ambassador

Before departing for Geneva, the newly elected Secretary General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Arguj Kalantarli, met with the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Azerbaijan, Thomas Stähli, APA reports.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the existing cooperation between ICDO and the Swiss Confederation, as well as matters of mutual interest.

The new Secretary General expressed gratitude to Switzerland, as the host country of the ICDO headquarters, for its continued support and emphasized the importance of further strengthening this cooperation in the future.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on potential areas of collaboration in strengthening international humanitarian mechanisms and improving preparedness for emergencies.

For reference, the ICDO was established in 1931 and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. Its primary function is to support member states in strengthening national capacities in emergency preparedness, civil protection, and risk reduction.
