NATO tries to deploy its forces to S Caucasus, labeling them as 'peacekeepers', said Alexander Bortnikov, the director of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) during his speech at the 55th meeting of the Council of Heads of CIS Security Bodies and Special Services in Astana, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

According to him, the West longs for Armenia to leave the CSTO, which will make Yerevan even more dependent on NATO in future relations with Baku.

“West, by persuading Yerevan to slow down negotiations with Baku, is trying to lead the Armenian-Azerbaijan regulation process and to achieve the deployment of its "peacekeeping" contingent in the region under the auspices of the de jure UN and de facto NATO. The strengthening of the NATO bloc in the South Caucasus, of course, will not contribute to stability in the region," said the head of the Russian Federal Security Service.
