Economic relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan will develop, said MP Azer Badamov during the discussion of the draft law “On the approval of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Plant Quarantine and Plant Protection between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan” at today’s meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament's Agrarian Policy Committee, APA reports.

The MP said that political relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan are developing at a very high level, but the same could not be said about the economic sphere: “Documents signed as a result of mutual visits by the leaders of both states and the entry into legal force of these documents will give new impetus to the development of relations between the two countries. Azerbaijan has always stood by Pakistan in eliminating the consequences of natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and inundations. Pakistan is the only country that still does not recognize the independence of Armenia because of its occupation of Azerbaijani territories. During mutual visits of our heads of states, more than 50 documents have been signed regarding the development of relations with Pakistan. Our trade turnover does not reflect the true spirit of our relations. The entry into legal force of the agreed documents between the two countries will also contribute to the development of economic relations between our countries.”
