The development of bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Bahrain is in the interest of both countries, said MP Nigar Mammadova at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Relations, APA reports.
The MP said that in the context of Muslim solidarity, there are priorities of mutual interest in the field of regional and international security:
“The official relations between Baku and Manama, which established diplomatic relations in 1996, are based on friendship and cooperation. Both on a bilateral basis and within international institutions, the Kingdom of Bahrain has always supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Cooperation in the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement is at a high level. Bahrain also expressed support for the Parliamentary Network established within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement of Azerbaijan. It is no coincidence that the second meeting of the Parliamentary Network was held in Manama. Inter-parliamentary relations between our countries are also developing; various mutual visits have taken place within the framework of parliamentary diplomacy, and the parties discussed the possibilities of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation. An inter-parliamentary Working Group operates in the Azerbaijani Parliament. Cooperation documents have been signed in various fields. The activities of the Azerbaijani Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain will give impetus to the expansion of all areas of cooperation and the further development of relations.”
