More than 90,000 citizens have returned to Azerbaijan’s liberated territories as a result of post-conflict rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said during his address at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, APA reports.
The minister noted that Azerbaijan is carrying out large-scale rehabilitation and reconstruction work in the liberated territories.
Bayramov also said that the threat posed by landmines remains one of the main challenges in the post-conflict period. According to him, more than 400 people have become victims of landmines since 2020, while the total number of mine victims over the past 30 years has reached 3,500.
The Foreign Minister noted that humanitarian demining has been formally declared Azerbaijan’s 18th National Sustainable Development Goal. He also called for international support in determining the fate of nearly 4,000 missing persons.
