"Türkiye's relations with Azerbaijan are at the highest level in all fields. There is a special relationship between our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and under their leadership, the defense industry and other sectors of both countries are advancing rapidly," Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye, Alparslan Bayraktar said in an exclusive interview with APA.
The Minister emphasized that the energy sector is one of these areas: "In particular, I must highlight our joint cooperation with Azerbaijan in the natural gas sector. Azerbaijan is a very important country for Türkiye's natural gas supply. At the same time, Azerbaijan is also a key country for Europe's natural gas supply. Azerbaijani natural gas is transported to Europe via Türkiye. Additionally, we are working to increase cooperation between the two countries in the electricity sector. In particular, Nakhchivan has significant solar potential. We are discussing green energy projects related to transmitting solar energy-generated electricity to Türkiye and then to Europe via Türkiye. Moreover, Azerbaijan has significant offshore wind potential in the Caspian Sea. Connecting this potential to each other through electric transmission networks between the two countries remains a priority project to meet the electricity needs of both Türkiye and Europe."
