The operation of Azerbaijan's embassy in Syria will be restored as soon as possible, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov said during a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, APA reports.
Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan has not had any diplomatic representation in Syria since 2012, and the embassy's operations were suspended.
He further mentioned that steps are currently being taken to restore the embassy's activities: "In coordination with our brotherly Türkiye, our delegation visited Syria, and meetings were held. We have expressed our interest in restoring our diplomatic representation and any activities necessary for its operation. Azerbaijan's embassy in Syria will be restored as soon as possible, and a temporary chargé d'affaires will be appointed in the first stage."
