On March 14, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received the delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georg Georgiev, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.
The one-on-one meeting between the parties was continued with the participation of delegations from both sides in an expanded format.
During the expanded meeting, the issues such as various aspects of Azerbaijan-Bulgaria strategic partnership, including economic, trade, energy security, green energy, humanitarian, cultural, and other aspects, future plans, as well as regional and international security issues, were discussed.
The importance of the existing political dialogue in the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries was emphasized. The availability of cooperation opportunities in the fields of economy and trade was highlighted, and the role of the Joint Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Bulgaria was noted.
The joint initiatives implemented in the energy sector were pointed out as playing a crucial role in ensuring Europe’s energy security, and it was mentioned that there are wide prospects for expanding cooperation in this direction, particularly for the implementation of new projects in the green energy sector.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also briefed his counterpart about the current situation and realities in the region in the post-conflict period, the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories, efforts to combat the mine threat, as well as the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.
Despite the agreement on the text of the peace treaty, it was emphasized that the most important factor is the termination of territorial claims against Azerbaijan in the Constitution and other legislative acts of Armenia, as well as the official dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and relevant structures.
During the meeting, an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest also took place.

During their discussions, Ministers focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Bulgaria across several key areas, including the economy, trade, energy, transportation and communications. Ministers also explored future plans and the potential for further enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries. Additionally, Minister Bayramov briefed his Bulgarian counterpart on the post-conflict regional situation, recent developments and the challenges that persist, particularly Armenia's territorial claims against Azerbaijan, which are enshrined in its constitution.
Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also shared a post about the meeting.
"A key highlight of our conversation was the successful implementation of several significant joint initiatives with Bulgaria, particularly in the area of energy security, which serve as clear examples of the tangible results stemming from our collaboration, and we are looking forward to continue building on this strong partnership. Furthermore, I took the opportunity to update my counterpart on the current post-conflict regional situation, insights into the latest developments regarding the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, while also addressing the ongoing challenges", the post reads.
