On August 25, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev attended and delivered a speech at the extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, MFA told APA.
During the session, concerns were expressed that the ongoing military escalation and humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip remain a source of grave concern, emphasizing the urgent need to take immediate and decisive steps to put an end to the situation.
In Yalchin Rafiyev's speech, the importance of achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and creating conditions for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region were emphasized.
It was once again underlined that Azerbaijan supports the settlement of the conflict on the basis of the “two-state” principle, in accordance with the norms and principles of international law and the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.
It was further stressed that Azerbaijan, as an active member of the OIC, stands ready to contribute to the peaceful resolution of the Palestine-Israel conflict through diplomatic means. At the same time, it was noted that Azerbaijan will continue its humanitarian assistance to alleviate the situation of the Palestinian people.
