Landmines continue to claim lives in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan said in a statement on X, APA reports.
According to the statement, on April 14, an employee of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan was killed after triggering an anti-tank landmine in the Fuzuli district, in the village of Ashaghy Abdurrahmanli.
The Ministry extended its condolences to the victim’s family, loved ones, and colleagues, describing the incident as a stark reminder of the ongoing human cost of landmines and the daily risks faced by demining personnel working to ensure safety in liberated areas: "Since the end of the 2020 war, 422 Azerbaijanis have fallen victim to landmines. There is an urgent need for enhanced international support for comprehensive demining efforts."
