The Embassy of Mexico in the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its activities in Baku, APA’s southern bureau reports.
Mexico’s ambassador to Iran, Guillermo Puente Ordorica, who was evacuated from Iran through the Azerbaijan border, said that the embassy will now operate from Baku.
The ambassador noted that he has now arrived in Azerbaijan: “My government instructed me to relocate our embassy here with the support of the Government of Azerbaijan and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Mexico. That is why my team and I are here.
As you can see, the situation in Iran is complicated. Azerbaijan is a friendly country. There are very good bilateral relations between Mexico and Azerbaijan. I visit Azerbaijan frequently. During the years when I served as ambassador to Iran, I also came here several times. But this time, as I said, I have come to work in Baku with my team and to support the Mexican community in Iran. We hope that the situation we are currently witnessing will soon be resolved peacefully.”
