A memorial ceremony is being held in front of the company's Turkish headquarters in Istanbul in connection with the crash of an AZAL plane near Aktau, APA's Istanbul correspondent reports.
The ceremony is being attended by company representatives, city residents and representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
Recall that today is a day of mourning in Azerbaijan. By an Order signed by President Ilham Aliyev, a national day of mourning was declared on December 26 in connection with the loss of many lives in the crash of the Embraer 190 passenger plane operating the Baku-Grozny route on December 25.
On December 25, an Embraer 190 aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, flight J2-8243 on the Baku-Grozny route, diverted towards the city of Aktau due to the necessity of an emergency landing and crashed near Aktau. The plane carried 67 people, including 5 crew members and 62 passengers. As a result of the crash, 38 people lost their lives, while 29 survived.
The causes of the crash are under investigation.
