Meeting of Azerbaijani, Pakistani and Turkish parliamentary speakers held-UPDATED

Today in Islamabad, the opening ceremony of the Third Trilateral Meeting of the Speakers of the Parliaments of Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Türkiye was held, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, emphasized that the parliamentary platform is an important direction for deepening relations between our countries and peoples. The Speaker of the National Assembly noted that Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Türkiye are friendly and brotherly countries and stated that the three brotherly states are always united on crucial issues.

Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis, who said that the cooperation of our parliaments is based on the brotherhood, unity, and solidarity of our countries and peoples, which are connected by a shared history, cultural, religious, and spiritual values, stated that Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Türkiye have always stood by and supported each other.

Numan Kurtulmuş who touched upon the importance of combating terror threats in his speech said that Türkiye attaches great importance to the fight against terrorism that targets the sovereignty and independence of states.

In his speech, he congratulated our country and people on the achievements made towards the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The Third Trilateral Meeting of the Speakers of the Parliaments of Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Türkiye kicked off in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on October 13, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

The Executive Meeting of the meeting was held first.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmus attended the event. The parliamentary speakers emphasized the importance of high-level brotherly relations between our countries and parliaments and expressed confidence that this meeting would give a strong impetus to achieving the goals and objectives set for trilateral parliamentary cooperation.

A wide exchange of views was held on the topics on the agenda at the Executive Meeting.

Then, the opening ceremony of the Third Trilateral Meeting of the Speakers of the Parliaments of Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Türkiye began.

It should be noted that the Trilateral Meeting will continue today with speeches by the parliamentary speakers and extensive discussions with the participation of deputies.
