Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with a delegation led by Tony McCormack, head of the Ireland–Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group, who is visiting the country, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.
It was noted that Sahiba Gafarova said that during such contacts, agreements are reached on developing relations between the parliaments. The sides also emphasized the importance of joint activities within international parliamentary organizations.
Expressing gratitude for the invitation and the high-level hospitality, Tony McCormack noted that there are opportunities to establish closer ties between the parliaments. He said that such visits and contacts serve this purpose.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova stated that numerous international events are held in Azerbaijan and noted that through such events, Azerbaijan presents its views to the world.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization and peace process, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
