Kyrgyz President: SCO should play more active role in preventing crises worldwide

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) should play a more active role in preventing political crises worldwide, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov said during his speech at the SCO Plus format meeting, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Bishkek reports.

He said that over the past 25 years, the SCO has undergone significant development and become an influential platform for political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation.

Sadyr Japarov emphasized the importance of developing preventive diplomacy within the SCO.

“We must learn to act before political disagreements turn into crises and crises into armed conflicts,” the Kyrgyz President said.

He also called for strengthening joint efforts to combat terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and transnational organized crime.
