Central Asia and Azerbaijan can showcase the unique heritage of ancient cities to the world, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov said at the informal meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan and the Central Asian countries, APA's correspondent dispatched to Kyrgyzstan reports.
"The cultural affinity between our peoples, our shared history, and our traditional ties remain a solid foundation for our relations. Cooperation in the tourism sector has great potential. Central Asia and Azerbaijan can present to the world the unique heritage of ancient cities, the historical monuments of the Great Silk Road, mountain and lake landscapes, national traditions, and cultural diversity," the Kyrgyz president said.
Sadyr Zhaparov stressed that cooperation among the Central Asian states has gained a qualitatively new dimension in recent years.
"Fundamental and historic agreements have been reached on state borders. One of the key results of strengthened regional cooperation has been the mutual support our states provide each other in the international arena. I sincerely thank you for supporting Kyrgyzstan's candidacy for the UN Security Council for 2027–2028. The adoption in Tashkent of the appeal by the heads of Central Asian states addressed to the UN member states became a vivid manifestation of regional solidarity and important support for our country. During its work on this important international platform, Kyrgyzstan will promote the common interests of the region.
One of the main areas of our joint efforts is the development of transport connectivity. Our countries are implementing strategically important railway, highway, aviation, and multimodal projects. It is important that these directions are coordinated and complement one another. Among the major infrastructure projects is the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway," he said.
