A phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev is not currently on the agenda, said Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov in response to a question from TASS, APA reports.
“At the moment, such a conversation is not on the agenda, but on the other hand, if necessary, it will take place in the shortest time,” Peskov said in response to a question about whether there is a conversation with the Azerbaijani leader on President Putin’s schedule in connection with the detention of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg.
In addition, Peskov emphasized that Moscow regrets the cancellation of Russian cultural events scheduled to be held in Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that due to the deliberate and extrajudicial killings and acts of violence against Azerbaijanis by Russian law enforcement agencies in the Yekaterinburg region of the Russian Federation based on ethnic grounds, and considering that such incidents have recently taken on a systematic character, cultural events planned to be held in Azerbaijan in cooperation with Russian state and private institutions — including concerts, festivals, performances, exhibitions, and others — have been canceled.
