A commemoration event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held in Moscow, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
The event was organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in the Russian Federation with the support of the Russian representation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
Representatives of the diplomatic corps, Russian scientists and cultural figures, as well as members of the Azerbaijani community in Moscow and other regions of Russia and activists of the Russian Azerbaijani Youth Union (AMOR) participated in the event.
The participants laid flowers in front of the bust of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev located at the Azerbaijani Embassy, as well as at the memorial stand dedicated to the victims of the Khojaly genocide. The memory of the victims of the tragedy was commemorated with a minute of silence.
Opening the event, Azerbaijani Ambassador to this country Rahman Mustafayev spoke about the Khojaly genocide, describing it as one of the most tragic pages in the modern history of Azerbaijan.
