The 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit will be held in the city of Khankendi, APA reports.

On July 3-4, leaders of ECO member countries will gather in Karabakh. Preparations for the summit in Khankendi are underway. Posters displaying the event’s date and venue have been placed on streets and avenues. Road infrastructure is being renovated, asphalt is being laid, and many residential buildings and public facilities are undergoing major repairs. Security measures in the city have been strengthened. Residents consider hosting this international economic meeting in Khankendi a significant event. The summit also brings attention to Khankendi, a city that had been a separatist stronghold for over 30 years. The 17th summit will discuss economic cooperation among member states, the region’s future, and recent global developments.

Recall that Azerbaijan joined the Economic Cooperation Organization immediately after gaining independence in 1992. Current members include Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan. The 16th ECO Summit was held on November 9, 2023, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
