Key issues to be discussed at the XI Global Baku Forum revealed

"The previous year was a significant year for Azerbaijan",  the co-chairman of Nizami Ganjavi International Center, former President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freyberga said at the briefing held before the 11th Global Baku Forum on "Fixing the Fractured World" to be held in Baku, APA reports. 

The former president said Azerbaijan resolved the 30-year frozen conflict and "restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty".

Speaking at the briefing, the co-chairman of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, the former Vice President of the World Bank, Ismayil Serageldin touched on the topics to be discussed at this year's Forum. According to him, the panels in the conference will discuss peace and war, pandemics, climate change, new technology perspectives, and artificial intelligence: "Global problems must have global solutions, and this requires collective responsibility."

He said that important people will participate in these discussions: "I am looking forward to important discussions within the framework of the forum."

Former President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev thanked the government and people of Azerbaijan for organizing the Forum: "This forum produces global results. Last year was a year of peace, victory and solidarity for Azerbaijan, and justice was restored. I hope that there will be important results in 2024 as well, we are doing our best. We will continue our cooperation for the achievement of sustainable peace, for a successful COP29, because we are ambitious."

The former President of Serbia, Boris Tadic, said in his speech that the Baku Global Forum and the discussions here are becoming more important every year because the global community is facing more problems: "I hope that we will witness fewer conflicts in the next year."

The former Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zlatko Lagumdzia, said in a briefing that 20 young leaders from 5 different countries will participate in this year's forum: "They were selected in a competitive environment. They will convey the expectations and ideas of the new generation."

Former Secretary General of the Arab League, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Amr Musa emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in his speech. He said that issues on the international agenda will be touched upon in the discussions, and global problems that pose a threat to humanity will be discussed.

Former Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia Eka Tkeshelashvili spoke about the importance of the Baku Global Forum in his speech.

Maria Fernanda Espinosa, the 73rd President of the UN General Assembly, emphasized in her speech that on this platform, representatives of different regions discuss the sources of threats to humanity and the challenges that concern them.

Kerry Kennedy, president of the Robert F. Human Rights Foundation, said that this organization reflects Nizami Ganjavi's vision of peace, prosperity, and dialogue.
