On March 5, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev, made a phone call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, MFA told APA.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that the drone attacks carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran on March 5 against the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which were accompanied by damage to civilian infrastructure and individuals, contradict Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He brought to the attention of the Kazakh side that Azerbaijan demands clarification from the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the mentioned issue, an explanation, an apology, and the adoption of necessary urgent measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
The Kazakh minister expressed deep concern over these attacks and said he hopes the situation will not escalate further.
