A delegation led by Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev is on an official visit to the Russian Federation, the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.

As part of the visit, on October 1, the delegation led by Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev attended the 24th meeting of the Prosecutors General of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Kazan.

Speaking at the meeting on “Protection of traditional family values and prevention of the dissemination of unlawful content among minors,” Kamran Aliyev said that the protection of families and children in the Republic of Azerbaijan has a solid constitutional and legislative basis.

The Prosecutor General noted that the family, as the fundamental unit of society, is under the special protection of the state, while ensuring the rights, legitimate interests and safety of children is one of the priority areas of state policy.

He then provided detailed information on measures implemented by the prosecution authorities to protect children’s rights and prevent the involvement of minors in criminal activities.

During the event, employees and veterans of the prosecution authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan were also officially congratulated on October 1 — the 108th anniversary of the establishment of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the professional holiday of prosecution employees.

As part of the event, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev held a bilateral meeting with Prosecutor General of Tajikistan Habibullo Vohidzoda.

The sides highly assessed the existing cooperation between the prosecution authorities of the two countries, exchanged views on further expanding legal cooperation and issues of mutual interest, and reached an agreement on preparing and signing a new cooperation program.

During the visit, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev also met with Prosecutor General of the Kyrgyz Republic Malik Bekturganov.

The sides discussed the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between the prosecution authorities and noted the importance of continuing interaction in bilateral and multilateral formats.

The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in studying Azerbaijan’s experience in the electronic transformation and digitalization of prosecution authorities, as well as in combating cybercrime.

In addition, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev met with Alexander Gennadyevich Bazhenov, the newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Coordination Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS Member States.

The Prosecutor General congratulated Alexander Bazhenov on his appointment and expressed confidence that his professional experience in prosecution authorities would make an additional contribution to the Council’s activities. Azerbaijan’s active participation in the activities of the Council, as well as the importance of further expanding cooperation within the organization, was emphasized.

During the event, the Prosecutor General also held working meetings with his counterparts from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and other countries and discussed issues of mutual interest.

As part of the visit, Ilgar Safarov, Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor General for Special Assignments, delivered a lecture on “Digital transformation of the Prosecutor’s Office and professional responsibility” at the Kazan Law Institute of the University of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation.

He provided detailed information on the experience of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor’s Office in this field, participated in panel discussions and answered questions from the audience.

The official visit of the delegation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation has concluded.
