"We are against the officialization of the French language in our country," Jean-Jacob Bicep, Secretary-General of the People's Union for the Freedom of Guadeloupe, said at the international conference titled "Colonialism: Erasure of Religious and National Identity," organized by the Baku Initiative Group, APA reports.
He emphasized that they are against the officialization of the French language in their countries: "In Guadeloupe, they are trying to erase and destroy traditions. Language is our identity. We see the elimination of language and culture as a threat. But we will continue our struggle against this."
