International parliamentary conference on "Parliamentarism: Traditions and Prospects" held at Azerbaijan's Parliament -UPDATED

An international parliamentary conference themed “Parliamentarism: Traditions and Perspectives” was held on Saturday at Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis (Parliament), APA reports.

The conference was attended by about 100 representatives from parliaments of 13 countries and international organizations.

Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Parliament, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Fuat Oktay, Samil Ayrim, member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and Chairman of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group, Murat Emir, Deputy Chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP) Group in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Zahid Oruj, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Council of Representatives of the Republic of Iraq Arshad Rashad Al-Salihi, Ilyas Umakhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Science, Education, and Culture of the Federation Council of Russia, Head of the Working Group on Azerbaijan-Türkiye Interparliamentary Relations Ahliman Amiraslanov, Kydyrali Darkhan Kuandykuly, Secretary of the Committee on International Relations, Defense and Security of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ms. Orzigul Kozikhanova, Chairperson of the Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Disciplinary Commission of the Milli Majlis, Mr. Eldar Ibrahimov, Savalan Mirzoev, Deputy Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Wong Chen, Chairman of the Select Committee for International Relations and Trade of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Malaysia, and other officials delivered speeches at the conference.

Thus, the speeches concluded. Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova declared the conference over.

An international parliamentary conference on the topic of "Parliamentarism: Traditions and Perspectives" is being held at the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament), APA reports.

The event, attended by about 100 representatives from parliaments of 13 countries and international organizations, will exchange views on the role of parliaments in global processes, the development of parliamentarian traditions, the possibilities of parliamentary diplomacy, and the contributions that discussions at the parliamentary level can make to modern challenges in the world.

A roundtable discussion on the topic of "Azerbaijani and Turkish examples of parliaments in public diplomacy" will also be held at ADA University within the framework of the conference.

The event participants are also expected to visit the liberated territories of Azerbaijan and familiarize themselves with the construction work being carried out there.
