IEA Executive Director: Global Baku Forum is great platform to unite countries

"COP29 took place in a very challenging political context, yet significant results were achieved," the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Fatih Birol, said at the opening ceremony of the 12th Global Baku Forum, themed “Rethinking World Order: Turning Challenges into Opportunities,” by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center under the patronage of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.

Fatih Birol noted that issues such as the carbon market were discussed at COP29: “I thank the Azerbaijani government for achieving such accomplishments at COP29.”

He emphasized that countries must unite to combat global climate change: “The Global Baku Forum is a great platform for countries to come together. This is my third time in Baku, and once again, I thank the President of Azerbaijan.”
