"Conflicts are fought not only on the battlefield but also in the information space," Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said during the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, APA's correspondent dispatched to Shusha reports.
Hajiyev noted that considering Azerbaijan's growing role in the region, particularly in the media sphere, it is difficult to imagine a more appropriate venue than the city of Shusha.
He said that despite the negotiations with Armenia and the agreements reached last year, biased and problematic coverage continued to dominate in some international media outlets.
The presidential aide emphasized that the Karabakh conflict remained in the spotlight of the international media for many years.
"Some international media organizations tried to portray us as the guilty party in this conflict. This was regrettable. Speaking about the Karabakh conflict, it should be noted that our sole objective was to restore our sovereignty, and we achieved that. Nevertheless, biased attitudes toward Azerbaijan continued to persist in the international media," Hikmat Hajiyev added.
