Official Baku expects the provisions of the Armenian Constitution concerning territorial claims against Azerbaijan to be amended, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan – Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev said during his speech at the CAMCA 2026 Regional Forum held in Baku, APA reports.
“We are waiting for just one final issue: I think that after the Armenian Constitution is amended with regard to territorial claims against Azerbaijan, the signing of the final peace will become a reality,” the Presidential aide said.
Hikmet Hajiyev also emphasized that this is Armenia’s internal matter and that Azerbaijan does not intend to interfere in the process. At the same time, he noted that there are international precedents for such constitutional amendments.
Touching upon Azerbaijan’s peace agenda, the Presidential aide said that Baku wants peace to be consolidated not only with the political authorities but also with Armenian society: “On the Azerbaijani side, we have the strategic determination to continue the peace agenda, consolidate it on the ground and build a regional architecture based on the concept of peace that can ensure long-term peace and stability for the peoples of Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
