Hikmat Hajiyev: We are building a new regional security architecture

“The establishment of real peace is the main factor ensuring security for both Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, during the panel titled “South Caucasus: An Emerging Strategic Center” held as part of the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Türkiye reports.

“We are also considering the import of certain products from Armenia. Based on this approach, we have formed a new status quo in the South Caucasus region. This new status quo is based on the principles of legality and legitimacy and serves the interests of both countries. In addition, we are building a new regional security architecture that can ensure peace and security for our countries in the long term. At the same time, we must take into account that the South Caucasus region is surrounded by new conflict zones. In our immediate geography, there are effectively two major wars ongoing: the Russia–Ukraine war in the north, and escalating tensions between the United States–Israel and Iran in the south. However, the establishment of real peace is, in fact, the main factor ensuring on-the-ground security for both Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Hajiyev noted.
