“Unfortunately, some leading European media outlets, including the German press, are conducting targeted propaganda against Azerbaijan. If we look at the new realities, the Trump Administration has discovered that USAID, together with the previous Administration, carried out numerous covert operations,” Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said in an interview with the German publication Berliner Zeitung, APA reports.
He said that USAID has never been involved in humanitarian activities in the South Caucasus: “They financed a number of media outlets in the region and instructed these media outlets to cover the events in Azerbaijan in a negative light. Now, on the contrary, we are witnessing the publication of fewer negative articles about Azerbaijan. Because there are no more people like the former head of USAID, Samantha Power. She hated Azerbaijan and its people at a genetic level.”
