Azerbaijan would like also to see European Union, including within the framework of the EU’s Global Gateway initiative, to be part of the new transport composition, said Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, in an interview with EU Today in Brussels, APA reports.
According to Azerbaijani officials, the corridor on Azerbaijan’s territory is expected to handle up to 15 million tonnes of cargo a year once fully operational, with work on the Azerbaijani section due to be completed in 2026.
"Baku would also like to see the European Union as part of this new transport composition,” the presidential aide noted.
