The ninth meeting of the High-Level Working Group on the Caspian Sea was held in Astana on October 22-23, 2024, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.
The Ministry noted that delegations from the Republic of Azerbaijan (led by S. Sharifov), the Islamic Republic of Iran (led by A. Jahangiri), the Republic of Kazakhstan (led by Z. Amanjolova), the Russian Federation (led by M. Petrakov), and Turkmenistan (led by M. Atajanov) participated in the discussions.
The meeting was chaired by Z. Amanjolova, head of the Kazakh delegation.
The parties continued discussions on the methodology for drawing straight baselines in the Caspian Sea.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed the cooperation in the Caspian Sea, discussed preparations for the next meeting of the foreign ministers of the Caspian states in Turkmenistan, and addressed the progress of negotiations on five-party document drafts.
The delegations expressed their gratitude to the Republic of Kazakhstan for the high-level organization of the meeting.
The next meeting of the Working Group will be held in Turkmenistan on dates to be agreed through diplomatic channels.
