"As Turkish and Azerbaijani parliamentarians, we are here to strengthen our brotherly ties," said Shamil Ayrim, head of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye at the International Parliamentary Conference on "Parliamentarism: Traditions and Perspectives", APA reports.
Shamil Ayrim said that Azerbaijani and Turkish peoples have always been by each other's side: "This solidarity can be seen in every field, starting with the Garabagh Victory. Just as Nuru Pasha saved Baku with his brothers in 1918, Türkiye has always been by our Azerbaijan's side in this struggle. Türkiye also stood in solidarity with Azerbaijan in the Garabagh War. May God have mercy on our martyrs who watered the lands of their states with blood. Thank God, today Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty. We are very happy that today we are together in the independent Republic of Azerbaijan."
He said that tomorrow they will see Khankandi and Khojaly: “There we will remember the massacre committed by the Armenians and we will never forget them. Tomorrow we will also get acquainted with the reconstruction work being carried out in Garabagh. The areas mined by the Armenians are already being cleared of mines.”
Shamil Ayrim reminded that not a single Armenian suffered during the 24-hour anti-terrorist operations: "President Ilham Aliyev declared that anyone who wants to live by our laws can stay here. Our brothers in Western Azerbaijan were expelled from their homes in 1988. These citizens of ours must be returned to their lands in accordance with international law. Armenians should not worry about the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their lands. This issue should also be noted in the protocol of today's meeting."
