On February 27, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samir Nuriyev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and designated President of COP32, Gedion Timothewos Hessebon, APA reports.
Samir Nuriyev, referring to the discussion held during President Ilham Aliyev’s meeting today with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali on the exchange of experience between the two countries in the field of UN climate conferences (COP), emphasized that, upon the instruction of the head of state, Azerbaijan is fully ready to cooperate with Ethiopia.
Samir Nuriyev touched upon the work carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev within the framework of COP29 in the areas of organizational-logistical, substantive and communication aspects, and noted that a number of historic decisions were adopted at COP29.
Gedion Timothewos Hessebon noted that Azerbaijan organized COP29 at a high level and created a rich legacy. The minister stated that Ethiopia is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan within the framework of COP32 and highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s organizational-logistical and substantive support to Ethiopia in this direction.
During the meeting, the importance of the “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation regarding the Organization of the 32nd Session of the UN Climate Conference (COP32),” signed between the foreign ministers of the two countries within the framework of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali’s visit to Azerbaijan, was emphasized.
An exchange of views was also held regarding the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13), which will be held in Azerbaijan in 2026.
