"What is happening in Syria is before the eyes of the whole world," Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye told journalists, APA reports.
Fuat Oktay said that the civil war has been ongoing since 2013: “We entered this process with the Astana process. Russia, Iran and Türkiye entered this process in order to calm the civil war and stop the migration. The Assad regime did not maintain the sensitivity necessary to prevent the conflict from starting again in accordance with the Astana agreement. Conflicts and attacks increased, the Astana process reached a point where it could not be resumed. No one knows how the processes in Syria will end. Terrorist organizations are turning what is happening into an opportunity. As Türkiye, we will never allow this. We are following a path that will not trigger migration again, but rather a path where Syrians in Türkiye can also return to their homes. We hope that stability will be established there as soon as possible. The visible picture is that Syria is still far from peace.”
