Georgian Parliament Speaker: Relations with Azerbaijan are developing dynamically

Georgia-Azerbaijan relations are developing dynamically year by year in all directions, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili said during his speech at the official reception organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tbilisi on the occasion of May 28 – Independence Day, APA’s local bureau reports.

According to the speaker, relations between the countries are based on respect for each other’s sovereignty, independence and interests, as well as sincere dialogue.

Papuashvili noted that Georgia has always supported peace and progress in the South Caucasus.

“Georgia will continue to work jointly with neighboring countries toward peacebuilding in the region in the future as well,” the speaker added.

He congratulated the Azerbaijani state and people on the occasion of Independence Day and wished the friendly and brotherly country peace, stability and prosperity.

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Georgia Faig Guliyev, in his speech, said that the celebration of the 108th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in Tbilisi carries symbolic significance. He recalled that Azerbaijan’s first independence was declared precisely in the Georgian capital on May 28, 1918.

The ambassador noted that Azerbaijan-Georgia relations based on friendship, brotherhood and good neighborliness, as well as the strategic partnership between the two countries, continue to develop at a high level today.

It should be noted that Georgian government officials, members of parliament, representatives of the diplomatic corps, public and political figures, and members of the Azerbaijani community attended the event. First, the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Georgia were played, after which a video dedicated to Independence Day was screened.

Following the official part, a concert program was presented. Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, mugham performer Tayyar Bayramov performed mugham and folk songs. A participant of Georgia’s First Channel children’s competition “Ranina” performed the song “Shen Azerbaijan.”
