Georgia and Azerbaijan understand each other’s importance very well, which further strengthens the existing friendship and cooperation, said Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, APA’s local bureau reports.

According to her, close cooperation is important for both countries.

“For Georgia, relations with Azerbaijan are important in terms of connections with Asia, while for Azerbaijan, relations with Georgia are important in terms of connections with Europe. These ties should be further expanded in the future,” Botchorishvili added.

The foreign minister emphasized that Azerbaijan is a very important trade partner for Georgia and that trade and economic relations between the countries are continuing to develop further.

“A meeting of the Azerbaijan–Georgia economic cooperation commission is planned to be held in Georgia at the end of this month. Within the framework of the meeting, specific directions, concrete results, and future plans will be discussed. There is already a basis for creating better examples of cooperation with each other in the future,” the foreign minister said.

The minister noted that cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan in the field of joint investments is quite close.

“Azerbaijan is a country that makes significant investments in Georgia, and we are further developing this cooperation to ensure the implementation of joint projects. Against the backdrop of current developments, we can confidently say that the importance of Georgia–Azerbaijan cooperation goes beyond the regional level and holds broader significance in the context of global processes,” the minister added.
