Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel can become a regional power, Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan George Deek said at a press conference on the results of his diplomatic tenure, APA reports.
He noted that "for Azerbaijan to have achieved such development in such a tough neighborhood is a matter of pride for the country."
"Azerbaijan also lives in a harsh neighborhood like Israel," the diplomat added.
George Deek noted that the people of Azerbaijan, whose population is overwhelmingly Muslim, welcomed him very warmly: "This surprised me very much. The only village in the world where Jews live outside of Israel is located in Azerbaijan."
He also said that he would miss Azerbaijani cuisine very much.
