“More positive developments are expected in the region, especially regarding Iran,” said Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Fuat Oktay in a statement to APA’s Türkiye bureau.
According to him, the statements regarding Iran and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz give grounds to say this.
Fuat Oktay stated that the situation needs to be somewhat calmed, but the main goal is to achieve lasting peace and agreement.
He noted that Türkiye is closely monitoring the process and that regional countries should be actively involved in the peace process: “Türkiye supports the principle of regional responsibility. That is, we want the problems in the region to be resolved not from outside, but by the countries of the region — Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Iran, the Gulf countries and others — together.”
