Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the 10th trilateral meeting of the foreign affairs committees of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Georgia, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.
The importance of the trilateral meeting was emphasized during the discussion, and it was noted that trilateral relations among Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye contribute to peace, stability, cooperation, and economic development in the region.
Fuat Oktay stated that amid tensions in the wider region, cooperation between the brotherly countries serves as a factor of stability. The significance of economic ties between the countries was highlighted, and attention was drawn to the role of parliaments in further deepening relations in this area. The parties also discussed major joint projects implemented by Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on the situation in the region following last August’s Washington Summit, the new opportunities for cooperation that will arise after the launch of the Zangezur corridor, and other issues of mutual interest.
