In the future, regional organizations will have greater importance than global organizations, said former Prime Minister of Norway Kjell Magne Bondevik during the panel discussion titled “Global Security and the Balance of Power: Respect for International Law, New Issues, New Challenges” at the 13th Global Baku Forum, APA reports.
According to him, the European Union has been left alone, while the United States is withdrawing from the positions and organizations it previously held: “This has naturally led Europe to show more solidarity today. Because we are left alone. I think that in the future, regional organizations will play a greater role than global organizations—especially in matters of security.”
The former Prime Minister noted that there should be changes in the UN, in the composition of the UN Security Council: “Because the current situation is not fair. Africa and the Arab world do not have permanent seats on the Security Council. From the EU, only two countries participate.”
