"World should not return to "new sheriff" ideology, even if it seems more acceptable to some," said former Montenegrin President Milo Dukanovic during "Towards Peace" panel at 12th Global Baku Forum, APA reports.

According to him, current geopolitical power shift disrupts political architecture, leading to serious consequences.

"What is known at the moment is that geopolitical power in the world is changing. Such a shift disrupts the political architecture, leading to serious consequences. We live in a time when chaos is continuously increasing and is increasingly affecting Western countries. At the same time, we see the disruption of the value system worldwide. In such a situation, we must clearly determine the direction in which we will move forward. It is well known that in the 1930s, populist and autocratic leaders began to emerge. The world should not return to the "New Sheriff in Town" ideology. For some, this might seem like a more acceptable scenario. We need to determine whether we require values that support the development of society or the theories promoted by a new value system. It seems to us that we are stuck in a dead end with no way out. However, there is a way out of the dead end in which the West finds itself."
