“European Union’s perspectives with its neighbors should be revised,” said Milo Đukanović, the former president of Montenegro at the panel discussion within the framework of XI Global Baku Forum, APA reports.

“The priority for European Union is the Western Balkans. The membership of these countries in the union makes quite well promises,” he added.

The former president condemned European Union's suspension of the enlargement process: “This discouraged us. We want to see the Western Balkans again in the European Union. As for why we can't see, that's not a question before us, it's more a question before the EU.”

Đukanović also emphasized that the former Yugoslavia is seen as an obstacle for its neighbors: “If the Western Balkans have no future in EU, I personally don’t believe for EU’s future as well.”
