“The world is not a fair place, but nations and states sometimes manage to stand up to pressures," said Co-Chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center and former President of Latvia, Vaira Vike-Freiberga, at the opening ceremony of the 13th Global Baku Forum, APA reports.

"In the modern world, with the widespread development of information technologies, the concepts of justice and equality are sometimes distorted. We have seen this in recent times in the case of Ukraine. In this war, attacks against civilians and destruction continue. At the same time, in some countries, trade routes and economic ties are also being turned into political instruments. One of the most concerning issues is that the principle of mutual respect and equality between allies and partners is sometimes not accepted. The world is not a fair place. However, we also see various examples of responses to aggression, disrespect, and threats. These examples show that nations and states can sometimes stand up to such pressures through unity and determination," Vaira Vike-Freiberga noted.
