The 13th Global Baku Forum is a very important event, former President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers told journalists, APA reports.
“Although it is very difficult to find solutions under the current circumstances, we have gathered at the 13th Global Baku Forum to hold discussions and try to find solutions. I thank Azerbaijan for this forum,” the former President said.
He noted that the situation around Europe is complicated.
“It is easier to create a crisis, but it is difficult to eliminate a crisis. All wisdom lies precisely in this. We must all learn from our own mistakes and also draw conclusions from the mistakes of others. This is one of the biggest problems today. The issue is not only about military power, but also about the possibility of creating an asymmetric balance. Currently, we live in conditions of asymmetric balance. Small armies and small states are also able to resist large states. At the same time, every nation has its own unique historical feelings and memories. These must be taken into account when searching for solutions to their problems,” Valdis Zatlers noted.
