Former Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zurab Pataradze has been approved as Chairman of the Government of the Adjara Autonomous Republic, APA’s local bureau reports.
At a meeting of the Supreme Council of the autonomous republic, his candidacy was supported by a majority vote.
Members of the government of the autonomous republic were also approved at the meeting.
Before the voting, Zurab Pataradze delivered a speech and presented his action plan. He stated that all major projects launched in Adjara will be continued.
Note that the former Chairman of the Government of the Adjara Autonomous Republic, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, was appointed Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia on April 21.
Recall that Zurab Pataradze has served as Georgia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan since August 2018. He held the position of Chairman of the Government of the Adjara Autonomous Republic in 2016–2018. The Georgian government nominated his candidacy for this position on April 23.
