Former Foreign Minister: Global South Platform should aim to ensure international prosperity

The Global South Platform must aim to ensure human rights and international welfare, said Ecuador's former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luis Gallegos, during his speech at the founding conference of the Global South NGO Platform, APA reports.

He noted that there is a serious need for the Global South Platform to expand cooperation between peoples and nations and address existing problems: "We must be prepared for new pandemics. We should utilize the potential of both state and private institutions in this regard. We need to study pandemics and their outcomes. One of the most important goals should be how we can respond to the challenges history presents to us. We need solidarity, not confrontation. The mechanisms of the United Nations should be used extensively. This platform must ensure welfare, human rights, and international security for everyone. We must prevent all possible conflicts based on constructive dialogue and mutual trust."
