"Europe's security is currently heading in a different direction," Moushira Khattab, President of Egypt’s National Council for Human Rights, Executive President of the Kemet Boutros Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge, and Egypt’s Minister of Family and Population (2009 to 2011), said during the panel discussion titled “Gender - Security - Climate Nexus” at the XII Global Baku Forum, APA reports.

She noted that Europe’s security is currently taking a different course: “When Donald Trump came to power in the US, the situation changed. The European Union is now striving to be active in the Mediterranean, cooperating with the states in the region across various sectors and continuing these efforts.”

Moushira Khattab also spoke about the importance of protecting human rights in establishing sustainable peace worldwide: “The principle of respect for human rights must always be a priority. The European Union is also working to cooperate with countries worldwide in the field of human rights protection. The UN General Assembly is not following the principle of multilateralism in the establishment of Palestinian and Israeli states. Without human rights protection and justice, peace cannot be achieved not only in Israel and Palestine but in the entire world."
