Former EC President: Trade war could be result of idea originating in White House

"The trade war could be a result of an idea originating in the White House. Everyone knows this," the President Emeritus of the European Council, Charles Michel said this during the panel discussion on "Geopolitical Shifts: Responsible Partnerships versus Rivalry" held within the framework of the 12th Global Forum, APA reports.

He stated that he supports the idea of working hand in hand with the World Trade Organization: “This is my opinion. Within the WTO, we can achieve effective decision-making. The EU should build partnerships not only with traditional partners but also with other parts of the world. In the future, regional organizations will play a more significant role. Countries have their own policies at the national level. However, within the EU framework, we can cooperate and establish relations with Africa, Asia, East Indonesia, and the organizations there. There is the issue of security, wars, and crises here. But we are trying to overcome these problems.”
